As a professional Makeup Artist, your kit needs to be as clean and organized as possible. It can be time consuming to find the proper shade of lipstick for a client when you have a million tubes rolling around in your drawers. There is an easy solution to this problem that only takes about 30 minutes and it is to make your own lipstick palette. Brilliant!
What you will need:
2. Spatulas - I used the handle end to scrape out my lipsticks
3. Paper Towels - for obvious reasons
4. All of your individual lipsticks - here I am using all of my Lace Cosmetics lipstick shades
With your spatula, scrape all of the lipstick out of each tube. Make sure to get all the way into the base of the tube as there is always a LOT of product in the base. To be less wasteful, I used the same spatula for all of my tubes and wiped it off on my paper towel before working with each color.
After you get each shade into its own well, leave your container open and place it in the microwave. Check the palette every 20 seconds to ensure the product is not bubbling or melting too fast. After about 1 minute and 20 seconds, the lipstick should be fully melted. Let this sit in the microwave to harden again..
Once the lipsticks have set, peel the color labels off of the bottom of the original lipstick tubes and stick them to the bottom of your lipstick palette. After that...you're done! You will have more space in your kit and easy access to your lipsticks. Gotta love it!
