When I was contacted by The Historic Academy of Medicine at Georgia Tech and asked to do makeup for their annual "Something Old, Something New" bridal event, I obviously said "YES" immediately. This is a beautiful building that Georgia Tech purchased a few years ago and recently renovated. The entire building inside and out is stunning and makes for the perfect location for an elegant wedding.
The "Something Old, Something New" bridal show is a free event that features dozens of vendors in the Atlanta area who cater to weddings and special events. We had models walking around the venue all night wearing wedding gowns, bridesmaids dresses and tuxedos as well as hair and makeup so attendees could get a better idea of what we had to offer. I provided makeup for all of our beautiful models and was stationed in the VIP room to talk to soon-to-be brides and event planners about Lace On-Location.
Here is a set up on the front lawn for an outdoor option. If you ever want to get married in the middle of Midtown, this venue is located at West Peachtree and 7th Street in Atlanta.
Thanks to great determinations, love of what I do and a few prescription meds from my local Urgent Care doctor, I was able to do hours of makeup even though I had a pinched nerve in my back. You would never be able to tell from this picture but a few hours before, I couldn't even raise my arm higher than my waist! Not an ideal scenario but I always get the job done :)
Wish I could tell you that I snapped more pics but between doing makeup and talking to brides, there was just no time. BUT, I will be receiving professional photographs from the venue which will include head shots of all of our beautiful models! I cannot wait to see and share them. Stay tuned...

A common practice for the soon to be Bride (and some grooms) is getting that healthy wedding day glow. Everyone looks better with a little extra color. I repeat...a little extra color. I will give you tips on how to get that beautiful bronze you desire without having the "muddy" or "pumpkin" look.
Do your research before you spray. The more pale you are, the more likely you are to get that "pumpkin" look. Not cute. As I have said before, my favorite system is Versa Spa. I'm very pale and Versa will always turn me a nice golden color without that pumpkinesque look. Another great option is to have an actual person spray you. There are great companies you can hire that will bring a pop up booth to your house or you can go to tanning salons where this service is offered.
Also, make sure you know how the system works before you get in! You don't want a "Ross" situation.
For step by step instructions on how to spray tan, read our previous post To Spray or Not To Spray...Is It Really A Question?
If you prefer to get your color in a tanning bed, this is an option with little prep time and a good dose of Vitamin D. Your tan will be more natural and last longer.
